Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)

Cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is a well researched intervention for the treatment of insomnia.  This can include difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking too early in the morning.  It is a structured therapy and generally effective in a short period of time.  Therapy focuses on modification of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that have been identified to contribute to poor sleep.  It is considered to be the gold standard when it comes to treatment of insomnia.  CBT-I can be provided to individuals with life-long or recent insomnia as well those taking medications for sleep.
